This Sunday AM Service - Trust

When things seem like they can’t get any worse, learning how to trust God for the impossible seems like a big ask.

This Sunday Pastor Peter Clarke will be sharing how when we trust God we show that our faith in Him is real.

How can we make sure that we are trusting in God with all our hearts?

Lean not on your own understanding. Lean instead on the wisdom of God’s word. As we read daily and understand His word, we will be learning to think His thoughts after Him.

And that will help us as we seek to trust in Him with all our hearts.

Disciple…following Jesus - Counting the Cost.

Luke 14:25-33 NLT - The Cost of Being a Disciple

25A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them,

26“If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

27And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

28But don’t begin until you count the cost.

For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’

31“Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counsellors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? 32And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away.

33So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.”

Being a disciple means — CHANGED RELATIONSHIPS

If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:26 NLT

Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;

anyone who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 10:37 TNIV

Being a disciple means — CHANGED PRIORITIES

And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27 NLT

Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Luke 9:23 TNIV

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

Galatians 6:20 TNIV

(cf. Rom.6:6; Gal.5:24; Eph.4:22-24; Col.3:9-10)

Being a disciple means — CHANGED LIFE

So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.

Luke 14:33 NLT

Jesus—“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything

I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20 TNIV
