SERMON NOTES - THE POWER OF PURSUIT

By nature, we pursue what we don’t have.

God’s Foundational truths in regard to marriage—

#1: NEXT TO CHRIST, MY SPOUSE IS MY PRIORITY.

#2: I WILL PURSUE MY SPOUSE ALWAYS

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24

united” - Hebrew—dabaq (daw-bak’); cling or adhere; to catch by pursuit, be joined (together), pursue hard and relentlessly.

Other Scriptural ways the word “dabaq” is translated—

I follow close behind you… Psalm 63:8 TLB

…They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted. Job 41:17 NIV

1) CONVERSATION

2) THOUGHTFULNESS

3) AFFECTION

4) PROTECTION

WOMEN—PURSUE HIM WITH YOUR:

1) ADMIRATION

2) REASSURANCE

3) SUPPORT

4) NAKEDNESS

TO GET WHAT YOU HAVE NEVER HAD, YOU MUST DO—WHAT YOU HAVE NEVER DONE.

TO GET WHAT YOU ONCE HAD, YOU MUST DO WHAT YOU ONCE DID.

Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. Revelation 2:5 NIV

CHRIST IS PURSUING YOU

Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? Luke 15:4 NIV

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Isa.55:6 TNIV
